Dermaplaning for brighter, softer skin

Dermaplaning is a safe, effective procedure to gently exfoliate the skin and remove unwanted peach fuzz at the same time. If you want to have supple skin, your makeup to go on smoothly, and to enhance your skincare’s results, dermaplaning can help!

Getting a dermaplaning procedure is a comfortable and relaxing experience. Dermaplaning is performed during our Smooth and Silky facial treatment or can be incorporated into a lot of our facial services.

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a facial treatment performed with a special blade to gently exfoliate the surface of your skin. The process is painless and carefully scrapes away facial peach fuzz and dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling as soft as a baby’s bottom.

We know exfoliation is the key to glowing, healthy looking skin. Dermaplaning does this in two ways:

  • Removes dead skin cells that dull the complexion
  • Helps skin care products absorb more thoroughly into the face

You probably use granular scrubs and facials to brighten the skin. Dermaplaning takes this one step further, leaving skin with a youthful glow that lasts.

What’s it Like to Have the Procedure?

Getting a dermaplaning procedure is a comfortable and relaxing experience. Dermaplaning is performed during our Smooth and Silky facial treatment or can be incorporated into a lot of our facial services. Our Aesthetic provider will thoroughly cleanse and prep your skin to ensure it is clean of debris and bacteria prior to dermaplaning. Afterwards, your provider will use the special and sterile dermaplaning blade and gently run it over your skin to exfoliate and remove peach fuzz at the same time. This process is painless with patients oftentimes falling asleep and commenting on how they enjoy the feeling. Your provider will then continue with your facial treatment.  Because dermaplaning removes dead skin that can block the absorption of your skin care products, one of the many benefits of the procedure is that it gives you more bang for your buck as you use cosmetic products after this procedure.

After the procedure is complete, your skin will feel smoother and look radiant. Dermaplaning is a treatment with no downtime, however after your facial treatment you will want to stay away from harsh exfoliants for the next 48 hours. You will also want to apply SPF daily and avoid intentional sun exposure such as tanning.a

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning provides a quick, safe and effective way to restore a glow to the skin without chemicals or downtime, leaving you skin looking and feeling healthier, cleaner and more rejuvenated skin behind so you can face every day with confidence.

Dermaplaning can be used to elevate the results of many different facial services. It also allows your skin to more readily absorb result driven products.

Dermaplaning benefits include:

  • Leaves skin feeling smooth
  • Improves product penetration
  • Helps to brighten skin
  • Makeup goes on smoother
  • Removes vellus facial hair (peach fuzz)
  • Fast procedure – completed in about 15 minutes depending on the treatment
  • Fast results with no downtime
  • Non-invasive, no surgeries or pain
  • Prevents acne breakouts
  • Safe with low risk of complications

Is Dermaplaning Safe?

In the hands of a skilled Aesthetic provider, dermaplaning is both highly safe and effective. However let’s bust a common myth that surrounds Dermaplaning. Dermaplaning WILL NOT and CANNOT cause facial hair to grow back thicker and darker. The thickness and darkness of your Vellus hair (peach fuzz), or Terminal Hair (body/head hair) is predetermined by genetics and hormones. Certain medications such as oral Minoxidil (the main ingredient in Rogaine) can also affect hair density, color, and thickness. Because dermaplaning is a superficial exfoliation of the skin with the added benefit of “shaving off” the peach fuzz it does not affect natural hair growth patterns.

How Do I Know If I’m a Candidate?

Whether you’re looking to revitalize your complexion or get rid of annoying peach fuzz, Dermaplaning is safe for all skin types. However, we do not recommend dermaplaning for men as it could feel uncomfortable.

How Often Should I Have the Procedure?

Clients are typically seen every four weeks. The procedure has no prep or recovery time, so it’s easy to fit into your schedule.
